Slow Day and Cuddles

Woke up to find this little fuzzball all curled up.

I took an easy stroll to get out of the house and ran into this gem hidden in plain sight, just across from Round Pond where we feed the ducks and birbs. This is Princess Diana’s Memorial Garden (previously the Sunken Garden, which she reportedly adored).

Met a little friend - a European Starling. These guys can snatch treats out of midair and will even eat out of your hand! (More on that in a later post 😉)

On the way home I noticed a football match on and got to watch the second half at The Phoenix, a pub just down the street from our flat.

Back at home, I caught these cuties cuddling 👼

Diwali on Trafalgar Square

Another fabulous idea from K (are you noticing a trend here, yet?) - we headed over for a free Diwali celebration. I think we were both surprised at the festivities, at least in my mind I was expecting lots of stalls and food vendors but instead it was an all out concert with just a handful of tents. And it was absolutely jam packed. As soon as we walked out of the underground exit I was like, “Oh, my. Okay. This is a party!”

A packed house!

And a few videos for fun.

Yes, this is the slammin’ song, “I’m in love with your body.”

We had a great time watching the performances and perusing the various booths set near the back. In one exhibit booth, there were three women all decked out standing on a small platform. We were told that they personified goddesses and were encouraged to look into their eyes to feel a sense of peace. The exhibit ended with a spin of a wheel to determine your patron Goddess. K got Kali, the Goddess of Fearlessness. Looks just like her!

Other booths included guided dancing, meditation, and K even got some henna done (her fav).

Afterward, K surprised me with another treat (I’m starting to not question her innocent, “oh I just wanted to check out one other little thing”). This thing was SO COOL - a public installation for guided breathing right outside a big underground stop, complete with ambient music and mesmerizing visuals.

We rested our feets and quenched our thirst at The College Arms, then hobbled our way home!
A funny little cricket fella caught my eye:

And what other way to end this three-parter than with a funny bag of chips. Not the best tasting, but they do make great accessories!
